Where do the point girls come from?
In the beginning it was just friends. Then it turned into searching for local people on the various social media sites. Then it turned into friends of existing point girls. Now we often get contacted from actual fans of the show.
What kind of boats do you use?
As of 2026:
Main boat is a 2025 14 Foot (1448) flat bottom jon boat (Lowe)
The main’s motor is a 2025 Mercury 20HP 4 stroke EFI.
Security and support jetski is a 2016 Sea-Doo GTI 155.
Taxi boat (to get to docks in flood) is a 1998 12 foot (1236) jon boat.
What do you do with the fish?
Sometimes we keep the eaters for food.
Sometimes we keep the eaters for others.
Sometimes we throw them back.
If a fish is significally injured it is kept.
We always let the healthy 20+ lb fish go.
Where are you located?
We mostly operate out of Cromwell, Kentucky on the Green River.
How deep and wide is the Green River?
On average the river is 15 feet deep and 250 feet wide.

Tell us about Cletus?
Cletus is a healthy, full blooded, male Boston Terrier. He was born in December 2020 on an Amish farm in Cub Run, Kentucky. He entered the show in the spring of 2021. He loves balls, riding in the truck and point girls. He hates storms, firecrackers and being told no.
Why does Michael have a cane?
In the beginning it was just elephant in the room humor.. as in doing/showing something that deserves explanation but pretending it is normal.. But after time Michael realized that it helped him not wave his arms so much when talking and the slight support helped his lower back.
Why are there so many tattoos?
The age group and personalities that tend to want to be on a show like HLC tend to have tattoos. Adventurous, artistic and independent. We do not have appearance restrictions.
Why am I offended by appearances and language on your show?
Most likely you’ve mistakenly clicked on us and need to find something else to watch. Adults being adults isn’t for everyone.
Have the point girls do this or wear that..
The point girls are not employees and are only asked to follow the scroll rules. All else is up to them.. Including appearance and language. The captain is in charge of the video edit and will adjust as needed.
How long do you plan to do the show?
We are year to year always.
What kind of cameras do you use?
As of 2026:
Main: Canon C70 with 15-35 L Lens
Action: DJI Action 5 Pro
Drone: DJI Air 2s
Who controls the drone?
The captain controls the drone but the drone itself has its own autonomous features.
Who edits the videos?
Michael Horn edits everything using Premiere Pro.
Where do you get the music?
Most music is purchased and licensed thru Epidemic Sound. Some music is made custom from friends and other professionals.
Why don’t you wear life-jackets?
In the state of Kentucky (in our area) you are only required to have the life-jackets in your possession. When solo we do wear life-jackets (off camera). The jetski is life-jacket required.
Can you get something soft for their knees?
Although it may not look like it… the front of the boat has had some kind of foam padding for years.
Why only catfish for Fish of Fortune game?
Catfish are known to live out of water easily for a long time. Other fish are not.
Why do you have a scroll?
Our video strategy has evolved over the years to make sure every fishing trip is video worthy. By adding all the games and gimmicks we started to get complicated and decided to make a one pager to summarize our activities. If a person becomes a true fan and is curious it is always available in the links.
Unwritten rules?
When the captain's hat is removed the angels sing.
HLC brand colors are Black and White.
Catching 3 fish equals free dinner/lunch for point girl.
Kissing a fish will require it’s release.
If you can’t make it down into the boat you aren’t HLC material.
No fishing poles other than cane poles.
Captain and Silent Dan have seasonal competitions.
All October videos are Halloween themed.
No speaking on politics or religion.
